BEHIND THE BEEF

We at BMB Cattle believe happy, healthy cows make best tasting beef. On our ranch we raise Angus - Simmental crossed cows whose genetics produce tender and evenly marbled meat. Our mission is to raise happy cattle by allowing them to graze in open pasture. The regenerative grazing technique we use not only allows cows access to constant fresh pasture but also has positive environmental impacts.

REGENERATIVE & HIGH DENSITY GRAZING

By having multiple pastures fenced out and rotating the herd between grass and fresh cover crops we allow the land to regenerate and replenish the grass and soil. We rest our pasture a minimum of 45 days in between.

WE CARE FOR OUR COWS FROM BIRTH TO BUTCHER

Each of our cows is treated with respect and great care. We consistently monitor the herd’s well being to ensure our cattle are staying healthy and receiving everything they need to thrive.

WHY “FEEDLOT FREE??”

Human Health

When cattle are raised primarily on a grass-fed diet, the meat produced becomes significantly better for our health. There is less fat overall, higher levels of antioxidants, more omega-3 fatty acids (these are heart healthy fats), and more conjugated linoleic acid (CLAs) which, according to the Mayoclinic, is a fat that's believed to reduce heart disease and lower your risk of getting cancer.

Animal Welfare

Confinement of cattle in traditional feed lot style ranching causes more disease and unhappy animals. By allowing our cows to roam in an open pasture, not be confined, and eating primarily a grass diet, the cattle are much happier and healthier. They require less drug treatments as well.

Taste

Choosing to go with grass-fed beef will result in better tasting meat. We, here at BMB Cattle, believe that taste is extremely important which is why we have a very specific grazing schedule for our cattle. This helps optimize the result of the beef by giving the meat more marbling and results in more tender cuts.

Environmental

By allowing our cattle to roam in well-managed pastures, it minimizes the methane emission from the animals. Because we manage the grazing areas we can regenerate the soil and fields which helps to offset harmful pollutants and sequester carbon.
